Morrigan is one of the Triple Goddesses. She is seen as a shapely maiden, a warrior queen and an old crone. She will also be seen as a Raven or Crow and this is one of her many symbols.
Keynotes:
Historically she is a member of the Tuatha Dé Danann - a group of the main deities in Gaelic Ireland, similar to the pantheon of Gods such as the Greek Olympians. Her place within the pantheon is similar to Hera - as the jealous wife of the Chief God Zeus, Morrigan is married to Dagda.
It was believed that if you saw Morrigan on the battlefield, either in human or raven form - the battle is lost and she has arrived to take the dead away.
She has been compared to the Valkyries from Norse mythology as they both take the dead away.
